A three-pronged fundraiser that raised an incredible sum of €46,000 for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) was beyond the expectations of John O'Donoghue - a native of Caherdaniel who suffers from the disease - when he first set out on his mission.

John raised the money in County Clare (where he lived for a time), Caherdaniel, and in Killarney - all since December 2017.

John was assisted in his endeavours by his family and some of the fundraising included a 'Reindeer Run', walks and money collections. John is delighted with the end result and he recently made joint presentations to Christy Lehane, the ambassador for IMNDA, in Caherdaniel and in Killarney to say thanks to everyone who kindly donated money.

"It is an incredible total and John can be very proud of his efforts," said Christy. "Everyone is delighted with what he has achieved for IMNDA. John suffers from Motor Neurone disease himself and is very aware of the work and treatment involved. This inspired him to do what he did which is amazing work when you look at the  final total," said Christy.
